Apply to the Master of Law - LL.M Programme
Admissions Procedures & Entry Requirements
The LLM programme will accommodate a cohort of 35 students. Admission to the LL.M. programme delivered at the London campus of Université Paris Dauphine-PSL will be highly competitive and is based on a selection process that assesses candidates’ academic records, professional experience and career plans, with a view to ensuring academic excellence and international outreach.
Academic entry requirements
Admission requirements vary depending on candidates’ academic background:
- Applicants from the French university system: The programme is open to students who have successfully completed the first year of a Masters degree (Master 1) in law or equivalent.
- Applicants from the UK system: Students holding a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) awarded by a recognised university are eligible for admission.
- Applicants from other legal systems: International applicants must demonstrate, as a minimum, that they have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree in law.
Admission to the LLM programme will be highly competitive and a very good undergraduate degree in law will be expected (such as first or very high upper second in the UK LLB or equivalent degree from abroad). In case of a lower degree classification, account may be taken of relevant work experience, or a related graduate qualification.
Language requirements
As the teaching is entirely in English, applicants must demonstrate a high level of English, corresponding to at least level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), or an equivalent certified level.
Selection procedure
Applications are assessed by an admissions panel, which carries out a comprehensive and qualitative evaluation of the applications. Selection is based in particular on the following criteria:
- Academic excellence, assessed on the basis of results achieved during the applicant’s previous university studies;
- Professional experience, particularly through work placements, legal activities or relevant commitments related to the proposed course of study;
- The international dimension of the candidate’s background and career plans, including academic or professional experience abroad, as well as the consistency of the candidate’s plans with a career in an international legal environment.
Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their application may be invited to an interview, designed to assess their motivation, their career plans, and ability to thrive in an international academic and legal environment.
